  • Trump Store Closing

This particular Trump supporter is finding it nearly impossible to keep her Trump merchandise store open since President Trump initiated war in Iran. Too many of his supporters are saying this isn’t what they voted for, and she’s finding many of them are backing off of their support for the man.

  • All I Got

A simple image sums up the current regime:

  • Grandmother Detained After Ireland Trip

Donna Hughes-Brown, an Irish green card holder who has lived in the US since the 1970s, has been detained by ICE since returning from a trip to Ireland on July 29th. Donna moved to the US with her family when she was only 11, and has been a legal resident since 1977. However, she never applied for US citizenship, as she felt that would require giving up a part of herself.

Hughes-Brown’s husband of 8 years, Jim Brown, had the following to say about her detainment: “You don’t arrest 58-year-old grandmothers. It’s just wrong. She hasn’t committed crimes. You just don’t do that.”

Brown, a U.S. Navy veteran of 20 years’ service, has admitted to Newsweek that he voted for Donald Trump in last year’s presidential election but has quickly come to regret it “100 percent”.

Donna was detained over a bad check she wrote in 2015 for $25. She has since paid back the money, but has this misdemeanor on her record. For the Trump administration, that’s enough for her to be detained and possibly deported. We shall see in the coming days what happens to her over this, but I suspect she’ll be sent back home and not allowed into the US in the near future.

  • Some Cuban MAGA voters facing deportation in Florida

So, some Cuban’s currently living in Florida who voted for Donald Trump (along with other candidates on the conservative side of the ballot, I’m guessing) are now finding themselves facing deportation under the president’s massive ICE-raids push:

Some are being sent back because when they requested asylum, they said they were afraid to return to their home country. Only they later returned to Cuba, then came back to the US, and now ICE is saying they received their permanent residency status via fraudulent means. In other words, if one is scared to return to their home country, why are they then returning to said country, even if only temporarily?

Anyway, this is another case of FAFO Carmen San Diego says Let's Find Out hitting some people hard in the face. And I, for one, have no idea how this will turn out in the end for those who chose this road. All we can do is hold tight for the next 3.9 years and see where we end up as a country.

  • Police Unions Upset by Pardons for Treasonous Insurrectionists

Imagine the surprise of Fraternal Order of Police members, when a man who last year full promised pardons for the treasonous bastards which invaded the Capital building on January 6th in an attempt to overturn the results of a fair election, and whom they (the F.O.P.) supported, then gets in office and pardons said treasonous weasels. Well, Tom here is having none of it.

If you don’t want to hear Tom’s full background on why he has such a low opinion of police, feel free to skip to around the 4:00 minute mark, where he gets to the meat of the video. In short, President Trump, after offering as one of his campaign promises a day-one pardon of all the treasonous insurrectionists jailed over their efforts to overturn the 2020 election which Joe Biden won, went ahead on day-one and pardoned over 1500 of said treasonous insurrectionists. The F.O.P. and other police unions, after supporting the man during his campaign, are now upset that 1500+ criminals are released back to the streets. And Tom points out these unions are now getting to the “Find Out” phase after completing the “Fuck Around” phase.

  • Rosa, I Have Some Bad News For You

This one doesn’t need a lot of explanation. Just check out this screenshot (NOTE: click story link above for screenshot if it doesn’t show up on the front page for you):

And honestly, I feel bad for Rosa. But, she’s going to find out that the new administration doesn’t care who has been behaving. We shall see at some point in the not-too-distant future if I’m calling this one right.

  • Pro-life teen dies in Texas from miscarriage complications

This story from 2023 is truly a sad leopards-eating-faces story, and I’ll admit it might not even completely meet the standard for the concept. To be fair to the family, I need to point out early on that even though this young woman felt pregnancies should only terminated in cases of rape and life-threatening illness, she and her mother also didn’t care whether the government banned abortion. This was just a decision over how they lived their lives as Christians. And now, on to what happened, in brief.

An eighteen-year-old girl died in Texas due to complications from a pregnancy that miscarried. On the morning of her baby shower, Nevaeh Crain woke up feeling ill. In less than 24 hours, she was dead from sepsis, caused by doctors unwillingness to provide a life-saving abortion under Texas’ new, draconian anti-abortion law.

Texas’s abortion ban threatens prison time for interventions that end a fetal heartbeat, whether the pregnancy is wanted or not. It includes exceptions for life-threatening conditions, but still, doctors told ProPublica that confusion and fear about the potential legal repercussions are changing the way their colleagues treat pregnant patients with complications.

The problem here, of course, is the law is not clear on what exactly is a life-threatening condition. Doctors have to guess when “sick” becomes “sick enough” to provide potentially life-saving care. Guess wrong, and medical professionals can face as much as 99 years in prison and loss of license.

And sadly for Ms. Crain, doctors chose to follow the letter of the law, not providing an abortion until there was no longer a fetal heartbeat. It tears me up to even think about this; politicians in Texas have fought perhaps harder than in any other state to prevent doctors from following federal legislation which requires emergency rooms to stabilize patients in medical crises, which is what caused this teen’s death. So, facing this harsh reality, doctors err to the side of caution and self-preservation, waiting as long as possible before attempting to treat these kinds of cases.

There is nothing that can be done to change this particular case, but just as Ireland overturned harsh anti-abortion laws after women were losing their lives to pregnancy complications, I hope America will do the same. I’m not optimistic it will happen during the coming fascist leadership era, but if we ever recover democracy here, we may still do the right thing and protect the lives of the actual living.

  • Forced to fire undocumented workers

    Forced to fire undocumented workers

We’ll do the real first-post launch for Leopards-Eating-Faces with this story from Tampa, FL, in which lifelong Republican, Richard Gonzmart, is forced to fire several undocumented immigrant employees at his restaurants and pay a $500,000 fine. Some of the employees had worked at his restaurants for decades.

More details are available via The Miami Herald, however, the link is hidden behind a (reasonably priced) paywall. So, should you want more specifics than are available in the Business Insider link above, be sure to support the news media and buy a subscription with The Miami Herald. From a section visible above the paywall:

“With 2,000 employees, it becomes very difficult to monitor it,’’ Gonzmart said in an interview. “We think they’re legal but, when we had to check, we found seven people who have been with me 30 years — paying taxes, had children, grandchildren — and we were required to terminate them.

Here is a case where someone got exactly what they voted for. That is, Gov. DeSantis has been clear about his intention to crack down on illegal immigration, expel illegal immigrants, and go after those who employ them. However, I feel that is unfortunate. While I understand we don’t want just wide open borders around the United States, it does seem that there could (should?) be some allowances for integrating those who have demonstrated a history of good citizenship and respect for the laws of the country (other than, of course, legal immigration requirements). I mean, it’s something conservative deity Pres. Reagan supported:

The Immigration Reform and Control Act did not address the status of children of undocumented migrants who were eligible for the amnesty program. In 1987, Reagan used his executive authority to legalize the status of minor children of parents granted amnesty under the immigration overhaul, announcing a blanket deferral of deportation for children under 18 who were living in a two-parent household with both parents legalizing or with a single parent who was legalizing. That action affected an estimated 100,000 families.

As well, it seems Pres. George W. Bush supported something along these lines. Now, to be fair, the proposed bill would have also allocated additional funding for vehicle barriers along the border, additional camera and radar towers, and 20,000 more Border Patrol agents. And it did fail to pass. But the intention was to increase border protection AND offer a path to legal citizenship for immigrants currently in the country illegally.

Violent crime rates in the US
Illegal immigrants commit violent crimes in the US at a lower rate than native-born citizens.

We know that illegal immigrants commit crimes at lower rates than native-born citizens, too. Additionally, we know that roughly ¾ of US adults support a legal path to citizenship for at least some illegal immigrants in the country now. So why don’t more politicians? I don’t have the answer, and am legitimately interested in the why. Feel free to comment below.

  • Hello world!

Welcome to my newly formed Leopards-Eating-Faces website.

I confess to growing tired of so many people voting against their own interests only to later complain when they get exactly what they voted for. This is especially tiresome when these people were given advance insight showing why it is against their own interests to cast said votes. Thus, rather than contiuing to scream into the void about the choices people make, I’m screaming out to the internet “Hey, look at what these people did and the results it got them!”
